Roger's Story

No Pass - No Play Rule Almost destroys Roger

Roger was 16 years old and was an exceptional athlete and football player. He had been on the varsity football team and track team at his high school and was becoming one of their stars as a running back and wide receiver.

But Roger was having problems with studying and making passing grades. He had failed 2 of his courses in his sophomore year in high school and made very low grades in his other courses. Because of the no pass no play rule that had been implemented at his high school, he could not play football in the next season unless he passed those 2 courses in summer school. The courses he had to pass were pre-algebra and biology.

His mother brought him to see us after hearing about the superlearning hypnosis and we discussed his plight. Roger said that he had had problems with studying and with schoolwork since about the 4th grade.

He shared about his life with his mom and his stepfather who was a college graduate and was very good with math. His biological father had left them when Roger was very young. Roger very strongly loved and identified with his mother who had not completed her formal education.

We agreed to use cellular releasing hypnosis and superlearning hypnosis to attempt to assist Roger in passing his summer school courses and then to improve his learning skills, so he could do better in school.

In the first 2 hour session of hypnosis Roger released many causes of his learning problem, including an event with a 4th grade teacher that was so humiliating to him that he began to think that he wasn’t good at learning. He also found many other similar experiences including a fellow students’ comments during the last year when a girl said within his hearing “that Roger had lots of physical ability as an athlete, but he didn’t have much upstairs”. Roger released all of these mental causes of his learning problem during the hypnosis session and began mastering the superlearning techniques. He scheduled a follow up session the next week and went back to summer school.

At his next session he shared that he had taken a test in pre-algebra and felt very good about it. He said that his highest grade was 30 in pre algebra prior to that test. During the hypnosis session to reinforce his releasing of the causes and blocks and to strengthen his superlearning signals, his mother got a call from his stepfather and discovered that he had made only a 60 on that pre-algebra test, and it wasn’t even a passing grade.

She said his stepfather was upset and thought the hypnosis wasn’t working. We all discussed it after his hypnosis session and all of us recognized that he had done so well that he had just doubled his previous highest score, even though it wasn’t passing yet.

After a 3rd hypnosis session and more personal work on himself with hypnosis CDs for success and superlearning, Roger passed both of his summer school courses. He completed the pre-algebra with an overall grade of 77. Then he went on to the second summer school semester and took the 2nd semester of pre-algebra. He passed it with a grade of 87. Needless to say he also passed the biology courses and was allowed to play in the next year. He was even practicing with the varsity squad before the summer school session was completed.

Roger shared that he had just about given up on school and was even thinking of dropping out if he failed those summer courses. He realizes now that he is not dumb and that his learning difficulty was caused by some experiences during his early school years, and also by his identification with his mother who thought she had a learning problem as well.

Now Roger and his mother have made a pact to support each other, and since Roger was able to overcome his problem, his mother agreed to work on hers and she has since gone on to obtain her GED and complete a college course in Real Estate and become a real estate broker. His step dad is already a stock broker, and Roger’s goal now is to complete a college education, probably with an athletic scholarship, and go into either real estate or stock brokerage.
